How to Make a Simple and Delicious Potato and Onion Gratin at Home

It's been awhile since I posted a recipe, so today I am gonna share with you one of the simplest things you can do at home, provided you have an oven.

It's cheap, only has a few ingredients, and even a noob can pull it off successfully, unless you are really that bad that you cannot tell when something is burning.

All you need is milk, Parmesan cheese, onions and potatoes. That's all.

Take about 2 large potatoes and slice them thinly. You can even leave the skin on.

Similarly, slice one large onion into large onion rings and as thin as you can get with your knife.

Find a baking dish that can roughly feed 2 persons, and chop some butter cubes and layer on the bottom. Then layer on the potato slices close together followed by a layer of the onions.

Finish off by covering the onions with another layer of potatoes. If there are not enough potatoes to do so, chop another potato to finish it off. Season with some salt and pepper.

Now, for the bechamel sauce. heat up a saucepan or small pot and put in a teaspoon of butter and a teaspoon of flour. Stir until they are well mixed.

Then add in about 2 cups of milk and stir until it is boiling. Add in as much grated Parmesan cheese as you like and continue to stir until the sauce thickens up.

Once that is achieved, pour the sauce onto the potatoes and you are ready to bake it.

Preheat the oven to 180 deg for a few minutes and put the potato mixture in it for at least 20 minutes. Once the cheese melts and turns golden brown, you can remove and serve.

There it is, a simple and delicious dish that can be done very easily and quickly.
