BOSCH Master Gourmet Launch at My Private Pantry

Located among the row of shophouses along Tanjong Pagar is My Private Pantry, a nicely furnished kitchen cum training facility for budding chefs.

Co-owned by Chef Stephen Zoisl, it is a perfect place for would be cooks to spend a weekend learning the finer points of cooking from Chef Zoisl as well as other illustrious chefs who teach there.

I was fortunate to be invited for one of these sessions during the launch of BOSCH's newest products and got to see Chef Zoisl in action.

The nearly 3 hours session consisted of Zoisl going through a range of recipes from making smoothies to pasta to elaborate desserts.

Range of BOSCH Kitchen Products

At the same time, Chef Zoisl was also demonstrating some of the latest mixers and blenders from BOSCH to good effect, and showing the eager audience how to maximize and make full use of the new BOSCH products.

Welcome Smoothie
Chef started off with a delightful breakfast smoothie that is both healthy and delicious. Using the BOSCH blender, he showed how the fruit cocktail of banana, pineapple, blueberries, yoghurt and crushed ice can be easily made in seconds. And how powerful the blender could be. Simple and very effective way to start your day with.

Cheese Souffle and Bacon Ice Cream
The next dish he did was this very savory take on a French classic. Making a cheese mixture using the blender, he also made a very uniquely tasting bacon ice cream that was both clever and invigorating.

Spaghetti Bolognaise

For the main course, Chef Zoisl recreated an Italian classic. What was special was using one of the BOSCH products, he was able to show everyone how to make fresh pasta in a very short amount of time. And the difference in making it fresh really showed on the plate. Every strand of the delicious pasta was just mesmerizing.

Pauline Making the Dessert

For our final dish, we were actually asked to participate in a mini cook-off which was kinda fun. Divided into teams of 3, we were each asked to make a Bombe Alaska and give our little twist on it. Alas, our team did not win, but it was fun still to have some hands on time in the beautiful kitchen.

Our Final Bombe Alaska

Like all European chefs, Stephen is a charming man who knows how to entertain and educate at the same time. The entire session was relaxed, casual and always informative. And being a great cook himself, the food was undoubtedly good.

Chef Making Ice Cream

He was also showing off some of the latest cooking techniques, and I was most impressed with how he demonstrated how to make ice cream without actually having an ice cream machine on hand. Using just dry ice, he was able to show some cooking wizardry by conjuring up the bacon flavored ice cream to an astonished audience.

As for the place itself, My Private Pantry hosts a range of cooking classes and I gather it is very popular during weekends. The place is just cosy enough to feel intimate and just big enough to accommodate a dozen or more participants in one go.

The BOSCH Mixers and Blenders

Likewise, I was very impressed with the products furnished by BOSCH. Although they are on the high side when it comes to pricing, the premium products do sound like a home cook's dream to own

And as Chef had clearly demonstrated, these products are not just for baking purposes, but can be used in a variety of cooking methods and dishes.

Yes, the slogan for BOSCH reads "invented for life". I think it means "invented for the serious home cook" as well!
