Original Simon Road Hokkien Mee - Father to Son

Hokkien Prawn Mee is something I always like to eat outside, but there are not many that can pull this dish off successfully. Geylang's crazy cook is one of them, and undoubtedly one of the most famous ones.

Then, there is the Original Simon Road Hokkien Mee, which has been in existence for more than four decades.

Raffles Singapore Long Bar Steakhouse - The Tantalising Taste of the Tomahawk Steak

Tomahawk may be the weapon of choice for the Sioux Indians, but in culinary terms, it is one of the most visually spectacular cuts for steak.

Resembling a real Tomahawk axe, the steak retains the rib bone intact and is properly trimmed. As a result, it looks amazing as a presentation on the dining table.

Baked Chicken Leg with Tomato Basil Sauce and Purple Potato Mash Recipe

Recently, I seem to be neglecting my recipe features. That is why today, I would like to take the time to share with you something that is easy to do, and rather simple ingredients you can find from your local NTUC supermarket.

This is a dish with a touch of Italian inspired flavours, and is perfect for a weekend meal. The key is in the sauce, and the execution of the chicken.

Artisanal Frozen Yogurt at Milk and Honey - Refined Froyo Parfaits with Elegance

Frozen yogurt has been the rage since Llao Llao ruled the scene for some months now. Scenes of snaking queues were spotted in the basement of 313, but since the proliferation of other outlets, the waiting time has been considerably shortened.

Nevertheless, people just cannot seem to have enough of this. And Llao Llao is still pretty much value for money for what is on offer.

The Carvery at Park Hotel Alexandra - A Roast Buffet to Savour!

Buffets are never my thing, until recently. Fullerton has consistently impressed me with both their regular selections as well as their guest chef stints.

But, for the most part, buffets are dull, recycled and predictable affairs of frozen seafood, sushi calamities and watered down versions of both local and western favourites.

Raven at Chijmes - Gastrobar That Tickles The Senses

Gastrobars with genuine good food is a bit of a rarity here. Then again, great food in general is also quite a challenge in this current climate of cost cutting and manpower shortage issues.

Raven at Chijmes aims to be the exception and for the most part, succeeds in differentiating itself from being a mere pub and grub experience.

District 10 Bar and Grill at Suntec City - Great Steaks

Everyone loves a good steak. Well, almost everyone. Thing is, beef is not cheap in Singapore, and there are some pretty overrated steak houses in town.

I always like to cook my own steak at home, and it's easier to control how my beef comes out. Still, for a lot of other folks, it is not easy to come by a good steakhouse when you want to dine outside.

The Halia at Singapore Botanic Gardens - An Exemplary Dining Affair

Beautiful surroundings will accompany you when you dine at The Halia at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. And the open air, alfresco area is surprisingly cooling and comfortable.

Greenery makes for such an amazing dining experience, and in and among the flowers and leaves, the Halia manages to serve up an intoxicating gastronomic time for all who come here.

Zafferano - Finally a Risotto That Hits The High Marks

Risotto has been a bane of many restaurants and cafes in Singapore, and this is largely due to the fact that most risottos served here are pre-cooked and end up being mushy and broken riced on the plate.

I have always longed for a simple plate of risotto cooked to perfection with the right technique and cooked all the way through from start to end. I have found just that establishment.

Sumiya Seafood Grill Sake at Suntec - A Fine Place for Refreshing Japanese Fare

Suntec is fast becoming a hive for the finest Japanese eateries in town, and Sumiya is no exception.

Opening its latest branch at the 3rd floor near Tower 2, it is a fine Japanese establishment with some specific highlights.

Mooncakes For Consideration

Mooncake season is in full swing again this year, and here is a list of some of the mooncakes that you can consider for this year's Mid Autumn Festival,

Thai Village's Mao Shan Wang Durian Mooncakes wowed me last year and it has again done it. Though largely it is the same mooncakes, undoubtedly this trumps almost any other mooncake that I have come across this year.
