Somewhere along the line, we thought we would always get a dishwasher to settle our dirty plates and utensils. Especially on those party nights, when entertaining the guests takes precedence over washing duties.
Last December, we finally had one of these installed at our home. It is the Bosch Active Dishwasher.
Over the last three months, I can safely say that it is a great addition to our kitchen. And it is such an invaluable aid.
Being of German technology, the first thing that strikes me are the immaculate clean lines and design that adorn the machine. It is almost Apple and Leica like in terms of the aesthetics.
A minimalist design and only the functional buttons and control panel break the sleek look. A simple LED display makes everything easy to see and understand.
As for the usage, it takes a few turns to get used to the basics. Thankfully, Bosch will assign a very knowledgeable staff to get you through the basics and I must say, she was more than patient and helpful.
Using the dishwasher, you need specific detergents that are regularly sold at your local supermarket. They come in the form of capsules, you simply pop them and the detergent will be automatically deployed during the washing.
Typically, you need to do a quick rinse on your plates, pans, pots and utensils. This is to avoid choking the dishwasher over time.
What we found most useful are the wine glasses that can be washed and rinsed, and even dried using the Bosch dishwasher. It is so crystal clear after the wash, the glasses look practically brand new.
The compartments are also pretty impressive. We have the 60cm tall model and it can handle so much washing. Pots, pans, forks, spoons, plates all can snugly fit into the versatile compartments, and you can customise and arrange in a number of layouts.
I particularly like the fact that the dishwasher can dry all the utensils too. And compound that with a perfumed fragrance, it makes all your plates and dishes smell like a flower garden.
As for using the panel, there are a range of washing options. They range from quick wash to slower, more water conserving choices. Whichever option you go for, you simply press the button and off you go. Easy.
We are also impressed that you can even stop the washing halfway by simply opening the main door. You can just add in additional items without any major cause for concern. Close the door and the washing simply continues without any issue.
We also like the low noise emission during washing. In fact, our washing machine just beside it makes a louder commotion.
All in all, the overall impression is that it is a very efficient and capable machine. A beautiful design, a low noise factor and crystal clean dishes and utensils make this an impressive device.
You can check out the various models at the Bosch Experience Centre at Jalan Pemimpin. Also, the installation was quick and painless and we were very impressed with Bosch's service staff.
