Indeed, Caffe Vivo did have the classic Italian furnishings and did feel quite cosy and comfortable. The staff were, however, a mixed bag.

So, it was with great curiosity when we spotted this nyonya outlet right in the middle of a food court in 313 Somerset. We had put off a few times trying it simply because of the price, which was hardly food court standards.

Those steaks were really thick and huge, and it was one of those times that one had to improvise to get yourself a really decent meal, otherwise you would have ended up with badly undercooked steaks.

This particular outlet is situated in the heart of Central Market, and every Old Town White Coffee outlet has that old kopitiam charm about it, albeit in air conditioned surroundings.

Up until recently, Toast Box had been operating in one corner of Junction 8, but just a month or so back, they have occupied a new 2 storey building just next to the MRT train station.
Prosperous Lim, or Fu Lin Tou Fu Yuen 福林豆腐园 has a rather unique style of making this classic hawker fare. And they use a very gorgeous minced meat sauce.

Armed with winekaki as my sidekick for that day, we visited Uncle Kun's vibrant stall in Toa Payoh Vista Market and from the onset, there was a visible long queue waiting to lap up his delicacies.

Pauline wanted to try this place out and eventually, we went on a Friday and was asked to wait for at least half an hour for a table.
Found in the equally historical looking Block Arcade on Collins St, this is a great reminder of the wonderful English tea rooms of the past.
