Fragrant Pavillion Tea Hut 满庭香 With Video - Classic Taiwan Bubble Tea, Snacks And Delicacies

Back in the early 90's, there was this huge craze and following for Taiwan bubble tea. And this was long before bubble tea became so commercialised as it is now.

During that time, there were a number of dedicated bubble tea huts catering to the teenager masses who would flock to such places to relax and chat for hours on end.

I used to remember that a few of these tea huts used to serve very specific Taiwan snacks and foods that proved to be quite a novelty back then.

Now, with shops like Shilin Market providing Taiwan snacks on the go, it is quite easy to forget how these earlier Taiwan tea huts were the rage of its time, and how swiftly they disappeared from the scene as well.

Fortunately, located right in Toa Payoh Entertainment Complex, there is this somewhat new place called Fragrant Pavillion Tea Hut 满庭香, that is very reminiscent of those earlier tea huts. It has also recently undergone a nice facelift to give it a more soothing and comfortable surrounding.

Wide Selection of Bubble Teas

Being a tea hut, the folks here serve a wide range of bubble tea, from the milk tea variants to the jasmine tea versions with a number of different concoctions to choose from. My personal fave has always been the orange jasmine bubble tea which is very refreshing and zesty.

Crispy Salted Chicken

We had the crispy salted chicken on the occasion of this blogging visit, and this is a nice plate of deep fried chicken pieces with a salted crust on the outside. It was not as crispy as Shilin crispy chicken, but being bite sized, it was a nice way to complement the bubble teas.

Taiwan Sausage

The Taiwan sausages served here were well flavored and had a nice sweet spicy dip to go along with it. Cut into bite sized pieces as well, they seemed like the perfect finger food to with not only bubble tea, but beer as well.

Besides the food mentioned above, they also serve Taiwan mee sua and other rice and noodle dishes for bigger appetite meals. Ultimately, what we especially liked about this place was that it has always been a cosy place to relax and enjoy a classic bubble tea with some nice Taiwan snacks to go along.

  1. I used to like drinking bubble tea from these big and round bubble tea glasses at bubble tea huts. Those were the times when these bubble tea huts serve really good authentic Taiwanese bubble teas & snacks, unlike those served to you in plastic cups now. Can hardly find such bubble tea huts these days.
