d'Good Cafe - Simply Charming and Wondrously Cosy

There is so much to adore about d'Good Cafe that I have absolutely no idea where to begin. Perhaps I should start with the fact that it is found in the heart of Holland Village.

It occupies the 2nd and 3rd storeys of a shophouse and their signage is barely visible, save for a glass door with steps leading up to its charming setting.

Flock Cafe at Ghim Moh - Another Gem of a Cafe

The original Flock Cafe at Tiong Bahru has been around for awhile, but just a few months ago, they have opened up a new outlet in the heartland area of Ghim Moh.

I have never been to the original cafe, but judging from their latest establishment, there might be plenty of reasons now to check out the first one as well.

Silver Food News - Mouth Restaurant, Monochrome Fusion Bistro and 1 Market by Chef Wan

Mouth Restaurant has a very exciting and tempting 6-course menu for under $40 per person and it is very good value for money.

Included in this mouth-watering (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) set is a gorgeous chilled abalone served in a glorious black bowl, complete with smoky dry ice following out.

The Snack Culture Company - Around the World in 9 Plates

Snack Culture is the reason why we find so much passion in food blogging. By all accounts, they are considered an indie outfit against the more reputable fine dining establishments out there.

It started out as a straightforward bakery, before deciding to venture into lunch and dinner menus. And it is a fairly small space.

boCHINche - Classy and Elegant Argentinian Fare

As you walk in boCHINche, you are instantly greeted with a sense of class and elegance. There is a grocer near the entrance to entice you with some of the imported produce from the land of Maradona.

There is a cool looking, wood finished look to the place. A bar counter suggests that it is not all posh and watering hole seekers will feel equally at home here.

#creativesghomecooks - The Red Challenge Gallery

When we first initiated the cooking at home challenge last month, we had only anticipated a modest number of takers, and that from mostly friends.

I am happy to report a month later, we have had a tremendous response to not just February's theme challenge, but to the #creativesghomecooks movement overall!

The Holqa Cafe - Dream Powered Cafe by Students

Why do people open cafes? Is it for money, or for passion? Cafes are still sprouting around this island like crazy, and there seems no end to this trend.

This question has always fixated me as I visit every new outlet that has come out over the past year.

Silver Food News - Mr Berlin, Butter Studio and O'nya Sayang Paya Lebar Square

Mr Berlin brings with it the German street food favourite of bratwurst sausages and hotdogs to the heart of Raffles Place.

There is a twist, however. Instead of mustard and ketchup, their hot dogs are laced with curry. Hence, the term currywurst.

Joo Bar - Stylish, Korean Watering Hole With Makgeolli and Mangalitsa Pork

This was my first time at a makgeolli bar and for the uninitiated, makgeolli is a Korean rice wine and Joo Bar actually house brew all their makgeolli themselves.

Found along the shophouses between Beach Road and Bugis Junction, Joo Bar is a very stylish establishment.

The Quarters at Icon Village is a rather new cafe that aims to bring more local flavours into modern cafe fare.

The young owner is full of enthusiasm in trying to fuse classic Nanyang cuisine and has even marketed their sauces as individual takeaways.

The Queen's Yusheng From Antoinette - Finally, A Dessert Lou Hei!

The love of a father can seem infinite, when it comes to their children. This is all too evident when it comes to Chef Pang Kok Keong, founder of Antoinette.

You see, for a long time, he has wanted his young children to partake in the festivities during the Chinese New Year, and be part of the ritual that we call Lou Hei today.

#creativesghomecooks - A Monthly Cooking Challenge For Singapore Home Cooks

Wondering how often have we gone out and come home feeling unsatisfied with the food outside? Pretty often it seems, and with the price of eating out escalating these days, it might be a better option to dine in.

With that in mind, a couple of us from the sg food community have banded together to start the #creativesghomecooks initiative.

Arteastiq Boutique Tea Lounge - Valentine's Day 2015 Gentleman and Ladies Menu

I usually avoid eating out on Valentine's Day as there are not many actual good menus on that night.

Restaurants tend to churn out very drab and bland menus just to capitalise on the occasion and placing a ludicrous premium on the food.

Silver Food News - Beauty In A Pot, Sakura International Buffet New Menu, Jade Restaurant's Yu Sheng

There is a growing trend in collagen hotpot recently, and the Paradise Group has joined in by introducing Beauty In A Pot, their first collagen hotpot concept restaurant in OneKM Mall.

There are only a few things I look out for in steamboat. Namely, the broth, the preparation of the ingredients and the service.

PappaRich Plus at OneKM Mall - Malaysian Comfort Food Done Well

I used to frequent Old Town White Coffee in the past for my Malaysian food fix. That is, until I visited Johor on a regular basis and discovered that Old Town's stuff was pretty much filtered down.

Since then, there has been hardly any decent establishments within our island to go to for some decent Malaysian fare. Until now, that is.

Black & Ink Cafe in Changi Road - Big Roy With a Big Heart

Black & Ink is opened by a fellow food blogger whom I have the privilege to know in the last few months. We know him as Eat With Roy, but Big Roy is not just big in size.

He has an enormous capacity for both his passion for coffee, and an even bigger heart in supporting social causes. And those are the main reasons he started his own cafe at Changi Road, just opposite Eunos MRT Station.

Turning Tip Top Curry Puff Into a Delicious Curry Puff Gratin, and Beef Rendang Puffs

I have always enjoyed Tip Top's curry puffs, or curry poks as we used to call them. The thing is, a singular curry puff is almost a meal in itself. And that can be quite tummy filling for me.

And curry puffs are one of those foods that adheres to the law of diminishing returns. The first bite is always great, but the last few bites will leave you feeling a bit heavy and bloated.

Promising New Cafes in Singapore - The Daily Press, 23 Jumpin and Nunsongyee

Yes, cafes have been the target of mainstream media for the last couple of months. It's hard to keep one going, half of opened cafes close after less than a year etc.

All this negativity in the media is not going to stop the growth of this particular sector of our F&B industry. Quite the opposite.

Squash at Clarke Quay Central - Rojak Salads and Cold Pressed Juices

It may look inconspicuous, but Squash, the newly opened juice and salad bar at the basement of Clarke Quay Central aims to not only serve healthy, nutritious food, it is also very tasty too.

Allan, the founder of Squash, is determined to share with the larger public the benefits of eating healthy and the importance of "rebooting" one's body of undesirable stuff.
