Heavens at Town Restaurant - Heaven Has Just Come to Town

Heavenly. In a week where we were stood up by a feline celebrity chef, it was more than adequately compensated by the dazzling food of our own local heroes.

Trading hand torched langoustine for squid ink beef, there was really no competition for the eventual winner of this culinary standoff.

Silver Food News - Chabuton, Saboten and Eggs & Berries

Chabuton has a new outlet that has just opened its doors at Millenia Walk. And as with every new Chabuton opening, there is always a new ramen dish to commemorate the new place.

The new outlet has pretty much the same decor as its previous outlets, and that means it is bright and spacious.

The Rockin' Diner By The Mustard Incident - Hot Dog and Philly Cheesesteak Cravings

Singaporeans seem to prefer burgers over hotdogs, and that may explain why A&W's demise some years back.

I do miss those Coney Dogs and root beers, and though they are still operating in some parts of Malaysia, I still long for a good hotdog every once in a while.

Nostalgic Feast at Jade Restaurant Fullerton Hotel

Nostalgia is something that we look for quite often as we get older, seeking out childhood memories that are seemingly lost and we yearn for those simpler, more carefree times.

Food is no exception when it comes to nostalgic recollections, and in no small part, childhood food memories tend to fill the older generation with the most sense of longing and desire.

Capri Trattoria & Pizzeria - Delicious Italian Hospitality

Italian food is all about simplicity and freshness. And passion. Passion is the single most important ingredient in Italian cuisine.

And that vital component is often missing in Italian joints found in Singapore. Far too often, Italian cafes and trattorias push out dishes by the numbers with nary a thought about the soul of Italian cooking.

Silver Food News - The Pecking Order, Ethan's Gourmet and The Royal Mail

Located at the heart of the business district is this spanking bar that dishes out some quite decent bar fare.

The Pecking Order may not be the most spacious of spaces, but it is certainly a perfect spot to wind down to some drinks and food at the end of a long working day.

Without question, some things are hard to pronounce, but however you say it, Chir Chir at 313 Somerset has definitely been a success.

Diamond Kitchen at Science Park - Comfort Food That is Honest and Superb

Chinese cuisine can be frustrating for me at times. The lack of invention being my pet peeve, and when some restaurants tries, it comes off as being gimmicky and losing the plot.

That is why, I like it when establishments like CDHK just sticks to its guns and traditions and focus on doing the basic things and nailing it every time.

Men-Tei Ramen - Authentic and Classic Ramen at It's Best

Authentic Japanese ramen is not something that is easily found here, and with the explosion of all sorts of fusion and creatively concocted versions of this Japanese classic happening everywhere, it is almost a relief to find a place that sticks to the original way of making ramen.

This is why it is both comforting and an absolute joy to visit Jason Lim's Men-Tei Ramen at Robinson Road.

Ippudo Ramen Shaw Centre - Comforting Japanese Treats

Ippudo Ramen has opened a new outlet at Shaw Centre and being my first time there, I was not sure what to expect.

The good news is that I walked out a rather happy diner. While the main draw is their ramen selections, Ippudo also has a few other tricks up its culinary sleeves.

Silver Food News - Momiji Japanese Buffet, FYR, Miam Miam High Tea Buffet

Buffet is usually not my thing, but I must admit that Momiji Japanese Buffet at Revenue House in the Novena Area has caught my eye, and my tastebuds.

Maybe it is because it is a strictly Japanese themed buffet as that cuta out some of the superfluous buffet items like pasta and local selections, and that focus has streamlined the food to purely Japanese favourites.

d'Good Cafe - Simply Charming and Wondrously Cosy

There is so much to adore about d'Good Cafe that I have absolutely no idea where to begin. Perhaps I should start with the fact that it is found in the heart of Holland Village.

It occupies the 2nd and 3rd storeys of a shophouse and their signage is barely visible, save for a glass door with steps leading up to its charming setting.

Flock Cafe at Ghim Moh - Another Gem of a Cafe

The original Flock Cafe at Tiong Bahru has been around for awhile, but just a few months ago, they have opened up a new outlet in the heartland area of Ghim Moh.

I have never been to the original cafe, but judging from their latest establishment, there might be plenty of reasons now to check out the first one as well.

The Snack Culture Company - Around the World in 9 Plates

Snack Culture is the reason why we find so much passion in food blogging. By all accounts, they are considered an indie outfit against the more reputable fine dining establishments out there.

It started out as a straightforward bakery, before deciding to venture into lunch and dinner menus. And it is a fairly small space.

boCHINche - Classy and Elegant Argentinian Fare

As you walk in boCHINche, you are instantly greeted with a sense of class and elegance. There is a grocer near the entrance to entice you with some of the imported produce from the land of Maradona.

There is a cool looking, wood finished look to the place. A bar counter suggests that it is not all posh and watering hole seekers will feel equally at home here.

The Holqa Cafe - Dream Powered Cafe by Students

Why do people open cafes? Is it for money, or for passion? Cafes are still sprouting around this island like crazy, and there seems no end to this trend.

This question has always fixated me as I visit every new outlet that has come out over the past year.
