Gastronomy at Singapore Botanic Gardens - Corner House, The Halia, Food Canopy and Casa Verde
Singapore Botanic Gardens has been recently designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and this is the first for our country. But for many of us, the Botanic Gardens is an icon in many other ways as well.
For our parents, it might have been the place to go to for a romantic stroll and date. For families, it has always been an ideal and scenic place for picnics and family gatherings.

Muthu's Curry - Mannusavanai and Curry Fish Head
Mannusavanai means "Fragrance from the Land" in Tamil, and let me just say this right off the bat, Muthu's Curry is still the best place to go for an Indian meal.
Known for their Indian curry fish head, it has been around as long as I have, and that says something. Over the years, it remains as an institution for Indian cuisine in Singapore, and its flagship outlet in Little India is such a landmark in itself.

Pince and Pints - Lobster Nirvana
Lobsters! Lobsters! Lobsters! Yeah, we all love them. Thing is, it is hard to get fresh ones here. The ones that we consume tend to be frozen and air flown from thousands of miles away.
Pince and Pints aims to be different by actually keeping fresh lobsters in their tanks on their premises. They even go to the trouble of replicating the same ocean environment to ensure that the crustaceans are kept happy.

By The Fire - Another Gem of a Hawker Gourmet Eatery
Immanuel's first hawker eatery with all its French inspired cuisine was a big hit last year. Now, together with his ex-colleague from Guy Savoy, Alex, they have started another similar gourmet eatery in another hawker bar in Joo Chiat.
Called By The Fire, it is situated in the corner of Alibabar the Hawker Bar and serves up beautifully plated food that has a greater emphasis on charcoal grilled meats.

Greenwood Fish Market and Bistro - Go Lard or Go Home, Of Smoked Goods and Oysters Fests
Greenwood Fish Market and Bistro is having their annual World Oyster Festival, which is ongoing until the 25th July. Suffice to say, oyster lovers will love this.
They have a wide selection of 24 different types of these shellfish from all over the world, ranging from the little nugget ones to gigantic oysters. I am pretty sure that even the more discerning ones will find something here to their liking.

Nostalgic Feast at Jade Restaurant Fullerton Hotel
Nostalgia is something that we look for quite often as we get older, seeking out childhood memories that are seemingly lost and we yearn for those simpler, more carefree times.
Food is no exception when it comes to nostalgic recollections, and in no small part, childhood food memories tend to fill the older generation with the most sense of longing and desire.

Capri Trattoria & Pizzeria - Delicious Italian Hospitality
Italian food is all about simplicity and freshness. And passion. Passion is the single most important ingredient in Italian cuisine.
And that vital component is often missing in Italian joints found in Singapore. Far too often, Italian cafes and trattorias push out dishes by the numbers with nary a thought about the soul of Italian cooking.

Chir Chir at 313 Somerset - Something Korean, Something Fried, Everything Good
Without question, some things are hard to pronounce, but however you say it, Chir Chir at 313 Somerset has definitely been a success.
The nightly long queues are a testament that there is something buzzing about this place, and amidst the influx of Korean fried chicken wing establishments, Chir Chir truly stands out.

Diamond Kitchen at Science Park - Comfort Food That is Honest and Superb
Chinese cuisine can be frustrating for me at times. The lack of invention being my pet peeve, and when some restaurants tries, it comes off as being gimmicky and losing the plot.
That is why, I like it when establishments like CDHK just sticks to its guns and traditions and focus on doing the basic things and nailing it every time.

Men-Tei Ramen - Authentic and Classic Ramen at It's Best
Authentic Japanese ramen is not something that is easily found here, and with the explosion of all sorts of fusion and creatively concocted versions of this Japanese classic happening everywhere, it is almost a relief to find a place that sticks to the original way of making ramen.
This is why it is both comforting and an absolute joy to visit Jason Lim's Men-Tei Ramen at Robinson Road.

Silver Food News - Momiji Japanese Buffet, FYR, Miam Miam High Tea Buffet
Buffet is usually not my thing, but I must admit that Momiji Japanese Buffet at Revenue House in the Novena Area has caught my eye, and my tastebuds.
Maybe it is because it is a strictly Japanese themed buffet as that cuta out some of the superfluous buffet items like pasta and local selections, and that focus has streamlined the food to purely Japanese favourites.

d'Good Cafe - Simply Charming and Wondrously Cosy
There is so much to adore about d'Good Cafe that I have absolutely no idea where to begin. Perhaps I should start with the fact that it is found in the heart of Holland Village.
It occupies the 2nd and 3rd storeys of a shophouse and their signage is barely visible, save for a glass door with steps leading up to its charming setting.

The original Flock Cafe at Tiong Bahru has been around for awhile, but just a few months ago, they have opened up a new outlet in the heartland area of Ghim Moh.
I have never been to the original cafe, but judging from their latest establishment, there might be plenty of reasons now to check out the first one as well.

Snack Culture is the reason why we find so much passion in food blogging. By all accounts, they are considered an indie outfit against the more reputable fine dining establishments out there.

boCHINche - Classy and Elegant Argentinian Fare
As you walk in boCHINche, you are instantly greeted with a sense of class and elegance. There is a grocer near the entrance to entice you with some of the imported produce from the land of Maradona.
There is a cool looking, wood finished look to the place. A bar counter suggests that it is not all posh and watering hole seekers will feel equally at home here.

The love of a father can seem infinite, when it comes to their children. This is all too evident when it comes to Chef Pang Kok Keong, founder of Antoinette.
You see, for a long time, he has wanted his young children to partake in the festivities during the Chinese New Year, and be part of the ritual that we call Lou Hei today.

PappaRich Plus at OneKM Mall - Malaysian Comfort Food Done Well
I used to frequent Old Town White Coffee in the past for my Malaysian food fix. That is, until I visited Johor on a regular basis and discovered that Old Town's stuff was pretty much filtered down.
Since then, there has been hardly any decent establishments within our island to go to for some decent Malaysian fare. Until now, that is.

Turning Tip Top Curry Puff Into a Delicious Curry Puff Gratin, and Beef Rendang Puffs
I have always enjoyed Tip Top's curry puffs, or curry poks as we used to call them. The thing is, a singular curry puff is almost a meal in itself. And that can be quite tummy filling for me.
And curry puffs are one of those foods that adheres to the law of diminishing returns. The first bite is always great, but the last few bites will leave you feeling a bit heavy and bloated.
